When the Town of North Hempstead announced it had signed a contract with the USDA to kill 600 Canada geese residing on town properties, we spoke out at a town meeting, announced a protest, and roared our way into a private meeting with the Town Supervisor. Our protest turned into a celebration outside of town hall when North Hemptstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman announced he was ripping up the contract.

When his successor, Supervisor Judi Bosworth took office a few months later, we followed up with her and she confirmed that under her tenure the town would pursue habitat modification rather than slaughter.
